Reggio Emilia, 11 May 2010 - With multiple NRHA World Champion Rudy Kronsteiner in the saddle, Shine On Ruff (Lil Ruf Peppy x Smart N Pretty) tied to win the co-championship of the IRHA/NRHA Derby last year. The talented horse, owned by Ingrid Vermeiren, between the Austrian riders’ reins, performed NRHA pattern n.6 to a score of 222 – the top score of the premilinary go of the Euro40,000 added Open Derby division.
A point behind, Christian Dalla Pozza and Gennaro Lendi secured a spot in the finals for Whiz Ruf Peppy (Topsail Whiz x Lil Ruf Lady) owned by Pablo Alberto Liuzzi and for My Showbix Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Hollywood Stunt Gi), owned by Ambrosini/Arcese, respectively. Twentyfour-year-old Lendi and My Showbix Whiz not only took the IRHA/NRHA Futurity Open Championship last year. They also went on to tie for third place honors in the NRHA European Level 4 Open Futurity this year.
2009 NRHA European Level 4 Open Futurity Champions, Bernard Fonck and Sail On Top Whizard (Whizard Jac x Miss N Sis), owned by Danny and Deluc Cerato, posted the third highest score (220.5) of the go-round, as did his wife, Ann Poels Fonck, riding Whizdom Shines (Topsail Whiz x Setting Off Sparks) owned by Rolf Reinschmidt
Leading the Euro 17.000 Intermediate Open division with a score of 219 is Alessandro Milani riding Emilio Boniperti’s Boemil Twin Topleus (Topsail Speckles x Boemil Valentwin). Mirko Piazzi rode Free Dun It Rooster (Ricochet Rooster x Freedom Dun It CG) owned by Azienda Agricola Ca’ Antinucci to a score of 218.5.

The IRHA/NRHA Derby is open to 4-5 and 6 year-old horses and is
run in a one go round and clean slate finals. The Open Derby finals
will be held on Saturday, May 15. A full slate of IRHA and NRHA
ancillary classas, as well as the FEI approved CRI, will be held
during the Derby which is held in conjunction with Europe’s largest
western breed horse show, the Salone del Cavallo Americano.
