Das AQHA Executive Board hat auf seinem letzten Meeting eine Regeländerungen bestätigt bzw. abgelehnt, die ab 2011 Gültigkeit bekommen werden bzw. sofort gültig werden (siehe Text).

Die wichtigsten Änderungen im Überblick:

- Ab 2011 dürfen Pferde mit Ohrstöpseln, sogenannten Pomms, auf AQHA-Shows vorgestellt werden

- Folgende Klassen kommen ab 2011 neu ins Programm: Ltd. Rider Working Cow Horse, Ranch Horse Pleasure, Green Jumping

- Mit Gewichten versehen Schweife dürfen auch in Zukunft nicht verwendet werden

- Eine Task Force wird prüfen, inwieweit Dressurprüfungen als Special Event und auf der World Show eingebunden werden können

- Ab 2010 darf ein Teilnehmer bis zu drei Pferde in einer Open-Klasse vorstellen bzw. vier in einer all ages-Klasse, in den anderen Divisions (Amateur, Youth) maximal drei je Klasse.

GENERAL SUBCOMMITTEE

1. Approve the limited rider working cow horse class for AQHA shows, exclusive of the World Shows. AQHA staff is asked to develop a rule specific to National Reined Cow Horse Association class guidelines.

2. Add to the agenda of the Long Range Show Planning Task Force, to study and implement proficiency levels for both horses and riders in order to encourage more participation at AQHA shows.

3. Refer to the Long Range Show Planning Task Force to develop a system to handicap horses/riders who can get financial rewards for showing at any level of shows.

4. Add Ranch Horse Pleasure classes to AQHA approved shows.

APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE to define the wording for the class and who the targeted participants are. Show council to review and take back to Executive Committee. The Executive Committee wants to understand if and/or how this class might impact Western Pleasure.

5. Revise Rule 448(d) – to allow the use of lip chains in halter classes for youth, novice youth, amateur, novice amateur and select amateur. The use of lip chains is not allowed in weanling classes in any division.

6. Allow the use of earplugs or cotton in ears of horses.

7. Allow the use of weighted tails.

8. To approve CMSA as an AQHA approved event subject to AQHA staff working out the details with Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association.

9. To send out a directive to AQHA judges that the use of slip on (easy care) horse boots or related footwear are not considered “protective boots” and are ok for the use of horses at AQHA shows.

APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE with staff to carefully develop verbiage and examples with input from selected members of Judges, Professional Horsemen and Show Committee members.

SHOW MANAGEMENT SUBCOMMITTEE

1. In individual worked classes one rider may show three horses in a junior class and three horses in a senior class. In addition: In all youth, novice youth amateur, and novice amateur individual working performance events, a youth or amateur may show up to three horses regardless of sex, except in youth, novice or novice amateur classes where stallions are prohibited.

APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE as amended per Show Council."In individual worked classes, one rider may show three horses in junior class and three horses in a senior class, with a maximum (total) of four horses being shown in an all-age class. In novice youth, youth, novice amateur, select amateur and amateur division classes, an exhibitor may show three horses regardless of sex (except youth and novice may not show stallions)… A select exhibitor may show a maximum (total) of three horses in any combination in the amateur and select amateur classes. A select Amateur may show one horse in Amateur group worked classes and a different horse in Select group classes. Should the classes be combined, the select amateur must choose which horse on which to compete."

2. Rearrange the listing of horse shows in The American Quarter Horse Journal by date, as it used to be, rather than by location.

WESTERN SUBCOMMITTEE

1. Create a Timed Event Task Force to review the 5 second penalty assessed in speed events for loss of hat and other related items.

ENGLISH SUBCOMMITTEE

1. Allow Green Jumping as an entry level class with horses at the same level of experience with fence heights set a 3’ to 3’3”. Green Jumping will not be held as a World Show class and points earned are not eligible for Incentive Fund.

2. Allow a minimum five-minute warm-up period after over fence course walk is closed before first competitor is called to the ring.

3. Changing rule 460 (c) to read: Jump offs will be held over a shortened course that might include obstacles that might not have been used in the first round. In a jump off sequence of obstacles, jumps may be in any order as long as the original direction is maintained with the exception of vertical obstacles being able to be jumped in the opposite direction from the first round.

4. Create a Task Force to study first-year points and point conversions system for Dressage. Also investigate the possibility of approving Dressage as a Special Event and the possibility of holding Dressage as a World Show event.

WORLD SHOW SUBCOMMITTEE

1. Establish a Task Force to study ways to increase World Show purse and Incentive Fund payout. The Task Force would study in detail the impact per event and the implication to show management.

APPROVED BY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE with a task force to be named.

2. To be eligible to compete in the Performance Halter, the horse must be qualified to show in a performance class, other than Showmanship, at that respective World Show that year.

Denied by Show Council and Executive Committee. Performance Halter rules have been modified since inception and need to be left alone for a period.

3. Fall of weanlings in halter at the World Show will not be a disqualification.

4. To support AQHA’s Stewards’ Program Staff to post a telephone number in all make-up and practice arenas that would be directed to the monitor on duty for reporting rule violations.

VERSATILITY RANCH HORSE SUBCOMMITTEE

1. Ranch Riding and Trail – Add to Rule 478(f) & (g)…….”along perimeter of arena or in the vicinity of the ranch trail obstacles, if the ranch trail course is set outside of an arena.”

2. For European countries in ranch cutting the option to choose the number of non-numbered cattle per entry. Additionally, if European show management chooses just one numbered cow per entry and no non-numbered cows, there will be a one and one-half minute time limit.

3. Adopt American Stock Horse Association reining patterns at dual approved shows.
