Reggio Emilia, 14.05.2010 - As 'western equitation and western
breed horses' fans made their way to the Reggio Emilia State Fair
grounds to assist the 23rd edition of the Salone del Cavallo Americano
where over 1,300 horses from 15 nations met up, the first champions
were crowned.
Competitors have been
working their way to the finals in the various disciplines before
the official opening of Europe's largest western breed horse show
in the indoor arenas located on the fair grounds over the past
week.
Promotion
The European Reined Cow Horse Association (ERCHA) Derby saw Samuele
Poli riding CD Shinette win the Limited Open Championship with a
composite score of 433. Mario Conte riding Lynx Little Peppy took
the Limited Non Pro Championship with a total score of 395.5. The
open and non pro riders ran concurrently with the limited riders
in the first go of the ERCHA Derby in order to qualify for the finals
which will be held on Saturday.
The exciting
finals to be held on Saturday include not only the ERCHA Derby:
the Italian Cutting Horse Association (AICH) Maturity is also
being held in the North Italian town. The first go round of the
Open Maturity which counted 39 entries, was won with a score of
74 by Pietro Valeri ridingPeppy Of Acres. Ten open riders qualified
for the finals. Marco Sacchetti and Dualapeno led the first go
of non pro Maturity with a score of 75. Of the 37 entries in this
division, 12 will make their way to the finals.
Sixty-three Open riders
will make their way into the pen in the $150,000 added IRHA/NRHA
Derby. Stefano Angelucci and his Iam Sailors brother posted a
222.5 to win the Non Pro Championship. The Intermediate Non Pro
division was won with a score of 223.5 by Dominik Reminder and
his GR JFB Boy and Sabino Fasanelli riding Icenauer won the limited
non pro derby with a 215.
The Pole Bending and Barrel Racing European Championships, run
in a two-go-round format, crowned the Pole Bending Open champions
as well as the Youth and Junior Pole Bending and Barrel Racing
Eu champions on Friday. The finals of the Eu Barrel Racing Championships
with 113 riders qualified, will also be run on Saturday.
Alongside the exciting competitions which also include Team Penning
and Halter Shows, horsemanship clinics, music and dancing, a large
Exhibit Hall, great food and entertainment keep on thrilling the
visitors.
